Last date for Filing I-485 August 17th ?

I-485 Applications should get to USCIS before/on 17 August or your 485 application should have Post mark (stamp) of 17 August or earlier ?

Can someone please confirm this:
1) 17th Aug. 2007 is the actual 485 application receipt date. Does this mean that application. Does this mean that application should reach USCIS on or before 17th Aug. 2007.
2) If the Post mark date on application package is on or before 17th Aug. 2007 but the application received on some later date, will it be acceptable? Please let me know its very important.

It has to be postmarked latest by 17th August 2007.
It's not necessary that it has to reach USCIS by 17th August, just getting it postmarked on 17th August and delivered to correct USCIS office is fine.

I have read in USCIS faq stating that, they will reject all applications reached on 18th onwards.
Please check USCIS FAQ or confirm with your lawyer. Do not miss the boat.

I saw this post and wondering if I udnersatnd this thread correctly. Is UCSIS not taking in any 485 applications after Aug 17th? Is this beacause the PD is U (unavailable) in the current visa bulletin?
No!!!!!!!!
Your application must physically reach USCIS before or on August 17! Postmark doesn't count. This has been a common practice for USCIS and it was also clearly stated in the FAQ #1.
This means if you use overnight delivery, the last day to send your application is 8/16. Make sure it is before the cut off hour as well. Keep all your delivery confirmation just in case.
