I just got my GC Approved for future employment,

Here are my concerns

1. Do I need to join this future employer that filled for my GC?
2. Can I just run the pay roll with out joining this company if so for how many months I need to run the pay roll?
3. If I don’t Join this future employer that filled for my GC what are the consequences?

To answer your questions:

1. Do I need to join this future employer that filled for my GC?
A: YES. I am in the same situation and if you dont go work for your sponsering employer, the whole application can be construed to be fraudelent.

2. Can I just run the pay roll with out joining this company if so for how many months I need to run the pay roll?
A: I would not advice this. This is again fraud and may pose problems at citizenship time. Typicaly one should go work for sponsering employer for 6 months to demonstrate good intentions

3. If I don’t Join this future employer that filled for my GC what are the consequences?
A: Refer answer 1.

Thank you Sun07

If the employer threatens to inform USCIS that you no longer fulfilled your intent to join after GC approval....then you may be in problem..

I believe, as long as the employer is not threatening you to come/work for him....you should be fine.....

Usually, working 6 months after GC approval is considered fine...

That is a good Q and I talked to my lawyer and he said "as soon as possible". I believe common sense should prevail here that you need to give 30 days notice to current employer and then go join your sponsoring employer. So I beleive 1-2 months should be acceptable "should" this question ever come up while applying for citizenship.

And that brings me to the comment posted by banta4gc, he is right to a large extent. Usually the chances of someone asking if you did go work for your sponsoring employer after GC (at time of citizenship) are not very common, I would not want to live in a state of fear for 5 YEARS, "what if"

Unless and untill there are strong complelling reason for not wanting to go work for your GC sponsor, I would advice do it. Even if it means vacationing for 6 months while he runs your pay roll. Again as I said it is a fraud but hard to prove if you were not employed elsewhere.
