I got maried on september 05 aqnd got a divorced in july 06. I just got married last week and i am wondering, how long i'm i suppose to wait before filling for change of status, application for residence allien, and all that goes with it i mean the whole green card application packege based on marriage to a USC.?
The reason is that i am trying to beat the fee increase by july 30th but i do not want my application to look too needy at the same time, "like why file so soon right after marriage?" any idea guys...........

I am not sure what to do now...

Your spouse can petition for you anytime after you get married. Of course, you need to be sure to have the "initial evidence" required, such as a copy of your marriage license and proof of your shared life.

Why file so soon after you get married? So you can live your married life with your spouse in this country! I see many examples of people on these forums that file shortly after their marriage, and haven't read about USCIS scrutinizing anyone who files right after their marriage. (But maybe it would be a good idea if you had known your spouse longer than a week? :) You need to have some evidence of shared life.) What status are you in right now?

By the way, not sure how you'll approach this, but the other good way of saving money in this process will be to not use a lawyer.

oh i have known her for over 8 months. i came on f-1, but we didn't live together untill after our marriage. thanks for the lawyer thing, i was so worried about that too, so i guess i'll just go ahead and get my physicalm done tomorrow and then file at the end of the month.

Well, you have until July 30 for it to be postmarked, so gather all your documentation but don't stress. Follow the instructions in the forms carefully and use this as a starting point. There will be a few strange questions that everyone seems to have problems with, and you'll find them answered here or elsewhere on the internet.

The only thing I wish I'd had assistance with was copying, filing, and sorting documents, it took much longer than I expected.

waoo thanks a lot for this site and guidance, i am very gratefull, Hopefully next month this time, i should begin my update profile.... .. i have been waiting for this time to come.....lol..
