J1 to H1 change... informing ECFMG

I will starting on H-1 from July onward (J waiver). Do I need to inform ECFMG regarding this.

The reason I thought of it is because they keep and update our SEVIS record and was wondering if they need to properly update my status in the system.

Same situation with me. I think we have to inform that we are ending the J1 status at that point, but I don't think they really care about if we got to H1B status.

Can I ask, how long it took for DOS to issue the waiver approval after the health agency sent in the paperwork?
And when did you apply for and obtain H1B sponsorship

Thanx..

I don't think you have tell ECFMG for this. As they renew it yearly. If you don't request for renewal, it will automatically expires.

Mine was hardship waiver...it took a total of 9 months...Most time at USCIS and a total of 2 months at DOS...

I guess so...the reason I asked is because I have been getting autoemails from ECFMG that I did not renew my J1 and little time is left on my current DS2019..

Doc, do you mind telling me what did you use for hardship justification. You maybe the solution to my dilemma.
I am a permanent resident married to a J1 with two US citizen kids born here in the states. now my wife is doing postdoc and has until december of next year.
Thanks

Multifactorial - but I think the major thing was country condition. It was for a USC child.
