Once we acquire US citizenship - I know that we should not use Indian Passport. I mailed my OCI application but still have my Indian passport with me. Is it required to cancel the passport? Will I not get OCI until my Indian passport is cancelled?

The US Government allows you to travel on your passport of origin providing you always leave and enter the US on your American passport. Under US law, you therefore do not have to cancel your Indian passport. I do not know Indian law with respect to dual citizenship. Many countries, the UK for example, allow both with no problem.

I believe it is illegal to to use the Indian Passport once you become a citizen of another country, there are few threads related to this topic in the OCI forum. You can cancel your passport when the OCI is granted.

You will have to cancel your Indian passport before applying for OCI. I have seen some mention about sending the passport for cancellation and OCI stamping at the same time (I am not sure about this though)
