What do you do with i-94 when you travel abroad as an asylee with RTD? I was issued an i-94 with asylum status granted valid indefinitely, employment authorized. Should I surrender it at the airline counter as i am leaving. I am worried because I have i-485 pending and this is my only proof so far of my legal status in the Usa. I have made copies of my i-94 just as a back up plan. And if your i-485 is pending, does that have any effect on traveling abroad smoothlly and returning, knowing that my name check is pending? thanks all and have a good weekend.

Mr/s. bakeral: technically, you are supposed to surrender your I-94 at the airline. On your way back, the immigration officer at your port of entry will stamp a new I-94 on your RTD. so you will get new I-94.

You can keep if you want to, but if the airlines insist that you surrender it, just give it to them; don't worry about that.

you surrender nothing, keep your i-94 in a safe place as a proof for your status, when you travel use the refugee travel document thats all you need to enter again
