TN holder wins DV2008 Lotto

TNDV2008

Registered Users (C)
I currently have TN1 status as naturalized Canadian citizen working and living in the US. My wife suggested that we apply for DV and by luck, we (I) have been selected.

My questions are -:

1.) Since my number is 2008AF00044###, do it stand a chance of becoming current, or I'm I in the buffer bucket?

2.) As a TN status holder, am I at risk of messing up my status given the implicit expectation by the INS that TN holders should not have "intent" to seek permanent residency in US. How should I manouver around this during interview time (if my number ever becomes current?)

Thank you all in advance

With such high number for Africa, you are probably looking at Consular processing in Canada. Regardless of "intent", you should get your GC during the interview if your paperwork is in order and visas are still available. You don't need to manouver or explain anything to the Consular officer.
The sticky point is that once you send back your forms to KCC you have expressed immigrant intent and if you don't get the green card, then you may not get your TN renewed after expiration. I don't think you risk revokation before it expires; except if you are in Canada for your interview- they may not let you back in on TN.

Thanks Baba Aladura for your great response.

Anyone else who can advice on this scenario (see below)

my TN gets renewed mid-October. If I send a response to my NL now, then I run into a risk of getting my TN denied in Oct 2007.

so my strategy is to respond to these forms in November 2007 or right after my TN renewal, which will buy me time before next TN renewal in 2008

Ofcourse, all these "GC via DV" dreams are based on my number ever becoming current...(2008AF00044###)
