My case number is 6**** . I am ASIAN.
I am in US, so decided to go through AOS.
i mailed the papers DS, DSP on 23rd april.

What is my chance? Is my number too high???
incase, if i am supposed to get another letter for AOS processing, when should i expect it to come?

I think you must have got your number wrong. If as I guess your number is 6XXX, that number will be current in June for DV-2007. For list of cut off dates for previous years have a look at the visa bulletins here: http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/bulletin/bulletin_1360.html
If I was you I would probably go for CP.
