My I140 is approved but could not apply for I485 because the PD is not current yet. Now, my company wants to transfer me to a new location (different state). I have heard that if you transfer to a new location, then you have to restart the LC and I140 again. But I have also heard that if you are transferred to a new location with a promotion, then you can continue with your original GC process and dont have to restart it again. Can some experts please advice me if this is correct and how to go about it. Your advice will be highly appreciated. Thank you.

As long as you are not changing your employer, who filed GC for you, you don't need to worry about this. You do not need to start the process again. However, you need to fill the online Change of Address request, within 10 days of your move.

Ninja, are you sure that I dont have to worry about this. Some other guys have told me that I will have to restart my GC process because a new labor certification is required for different city?

I think that's for your H-1B amendment - you must be payed equal to or greater than the prevailing wage of the new location.
