Security Clearance Process

Hi Everybody,

As in immigration documents of some embassies it's mentioned that security clearance takes 4-6 weeks, does anybody know from when this process has started? When all winners sent their documents to KCC, the security clearance process is started? if so, then as we go on month by month, there should be more clearances ready and visa issue will speed up...

Is it possible that security clearance starts after the interview??!
for example for iranian winners?

I am not sure but as far as I know background check will be initiated after interview.

PSCL is right. This process (at least for Iranians) starts immidiately after the successful interview.

Yep That's right because i asked the officer (when i was in Ankara for my interview) and he said the FBI Check starts after finger printing and interview.
good luck all

I assume that everyone in Ankara had to get FBI name check or did a few manage to get visa stamp without any FBI check?

ankara embassy website

from ankara embassy website:

"While most security clearance procedures occur prior to the final immigrant visa interview, in some instances additional security procedures may be required after the interview. The security clearance process takes between four (4) and six (6) months and, unfortunately, cannot be expedited."

there's exception for iranians?!

unfortunately almost all info on ankara website is related to other cases not the DV so it makes dv winners upset & confused.
even in their forms there are several items that is not related to DV Cases.
good luck to all

Expediting the Security Process

Just an idea on expediting the security process. This will only apply to the few people who are already in the U.S. on some sort of work visa [H-1, L-1, etc].
You can ask your employer to do a background check on you. If this runs through the F.B.I., then they have a paper-trail that they can refer to when your immigration paper-work/request lands on their desk.
If your employer has dealings with Departments of Defence/Justice/Homeland Security; you can ask to be assigned to work in contact with those departments. This should trigger a security screening check on you which might expedite your immigration security check.
