Hi,

My interview was at the beginning of November 2006 and so far has not yet received my visa due to pending security clearance. It seems that this is a relatively tough process for Iranians having interview in Ankara. ( In my case it has taken more than 3.5 months and still don't know how long further it might take ).

I appreciate to hear from Iranian citizens in similar condition to know if this is a long mandatory process for ALL or SOME Iranians.

At the end of course it will be definately useful for other Iranians who have just recently gone through interview or those who expect that in a couple of months to know that pending or delayed security clearance might endanger the whole situation as we approach the deadline of Sept. 30 2007.

Wish good success for my fellow men.

Just Pray

Dear Matinfar,

It all depends on luck. In our case, both my mother and father went to Embassy in the same time frame that you went (November). My dad passed the clearance in less than 2 weeks, but my mother is still pending.
I believe you should not be worry yet since we have almost 10 months, but we should understand that the diplomatic relationships between two countries has made the situation worse.
I appreciate other fellow Iranian citizens to put their pending time on this thread.

Thanks,
Divaneh

ye soal

Dear dostan!
your mother and father went to Embassy for dv lottery case? and now for one of them background check is ready? wow! is it possible? when our case number appear in web site how can we know that which security check is ready ? is it for all or one of us? are you pursuited this problem with email? what was they answer for this case?
Thank you

it is possible

Yes it is possible.
If they put (*) infront of your number, that means not all in your family has passed check. Then, one gets the other one(s) should wait (like us now)
Reason: I followed up, they said nothing. They said we need to wait.

hi all

if any one get response concerning his pending case due to administrative processing = security clearance , i hope he or she publish the results ,,this will help the others

You have to be very careful. Visas will not be available until the very last moments of the DV deadline. As declared by the US State Department , only about 1200 "main applicants" ( 1200 files ) will receive visa from Iran. It means that there is a possibility that the allocated visa for Iranian winners run out at any time prior to the DV deadline. No one knows when it happens . Has your mother received her clearance, by the way?

Dear Matinfar,

How did you come up with the 1200? I mean, I know that 1361 Iranians were notified for DV-2007, but I couldn't find out your calculation which ended up with 1200! Could you please explain more?

Thanks

You are right. The correct no. is 1361 but I just mentioned "ABOUT".

hi

i think u r not right ,,,,,,,,,if the main applicant signed the ds230 part2 as the officer asked him for ,,,,,& was finger-printed ,,that means a visa has been allocated for him ,,but still pending the clearance ,,but as visa has been allocated already ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Not yet

Dear Matinfar,

My mother has not gotten it yet. However, I think embassy told my dad that our last deadline would be Septemeber.

That means, we should not be worry at all about the number of available visas, but after September, they won't issue any visa anyways.

So I am still worry about the timing, although it seems that its a long time.

How about you? any success?

No, that is not the case for sure. Signing the papers or going through other formalities don't mean visa is allocated at all .They don't allocate any visa number for you as long as your security clearance is pending. So it means that there is always a possibility that all visa numbers are finished , allocated and issued to the winners who are already cleared before you.
Remember , This is just a possibility than can potentially happen.

Dear Divaneh,

It is correct that the deadline is end of september but what happens if your mom is cleared say at the beginning of september but no visa number is available for him? I mean what if all 1361 visas allocated for "main Iranian applicants" are simply finished? This is definately a point of concern for all Iranians whose security clearance is pending.

Mine is exactly 4 months not cleared and still waiting....

Sound pretty rare to me. Of course, I can only pray that my g/f's AP can move faster and get cleared fairly soon :)

Dear Matinfar,

Don't worry about lack of visa number. According to the US official statistics, during the past 3-4 years, the number of DV visa issuance has not exceeded even the limit (50000) no year . On the other hand, no country can have more than 7% of the DV visa each year which means 3500 for each country. Therefore, if each winner from Iran is accompanied with 1.5 people at interview, the visa number for all Iranian winners will still be available this year.

Dear pscl,

The issue is not related to 50000 winners and 7% figures. According to State Department, 1361 visa numbers (DV1 ) are allocated for Iranian MAIN APPLICANTS . Of course their dependants will receive visa (DV2) under their own main applicants' visa numbers. Dependents don't get new visa numbers . At the end we will have many more than 1361 visas issued for Iranian main applicants and their dependents.

So if you are cleared at the very last moments, you may face lack of visa number simply becasue 1361 visa numbers (DV1) might have been used for other Iranian main applicants who have been cleared before you. I hope the point to be clear now for everybody.

Some hopes for my mom

Dear Matinfar,

My dad was the original winner of the lotto. So, he has received the visa already, and my mom will be DV2. Therefore, this visa finishing story is not going to be true for her.
But, it is getting more frustrating because we are getting close to 4 months and nothing has happend.
Especially, our case is very strange. Usually, in lottary cases, all the members get cleared at the same time, and my worry is that there is a glitch in my mother's name or something that causes this delay forever.
Anyways, we pray, you pray, and let us know when you get your clearance, god willing.

read and pass along. it will help similar matters for all

Dear All:

Whether your citizenship has finally been approved, your case is pending or you are getting started, you know the need for reform in the stalling process of Name check that can take for years. Many of you are already aware of the "Citizenship Promotion Act" introduced by Senator Obama on March 7, 07. This bill limits the increase in the immigration fees, but most importantly delineates time frames for FBI name check, which has a backlog of 300,000 and are reviewing cases "manually". I have started a petition in support of the bill. Please be informed that the bill also supports applicants of permanent residency in their name check process as well. WE ALL NEED TO SIGN IT AND ALSO PASS IT ON TO ALL OF THE FRIENDS AND FAMILY MEMBERS WHO ARE OR HAVE BEEN ENTANGLED BY THE OVERDUE IMMIGRATION PROCESSES. THE MORE SIGNATURES WE HAVE, THE MORE WE WILL BE ABLE TO OBTAIN ADVOCACY FOR THE BILL BY THE CONGRESSMEN AND SENATORS.

PLEASE SIGN AND PASS FORWARD FOR ANYONE AND EVERYONE TO SEE.

It is now more than 4.5 months frustrating waiting for security clearance and no news yet.
It is good to hear from other Iranians who have been cleared about their experience and time line.
