Is it true that if one chooses CP route and the GC process does not complete within the 6yrs of H1, then the applicant has to go back to home country and not eligible for 3 yrs H1 extension based on approved Labor and I-140?

Not true. You are eligible for H1B extensions if your GC process has been started more than 365 days back. If your PD is current then you will get 1 yr extensions, if not then 3 yrs. Hope this answers your questions.

Yes, it answers. I am in my second year of H1 with my labor approved. I am about to file for I-140. So I guess by the time my 6 yr H1 expires I would be almost 4 yrs into GC process and hence would be eligible fo r 3yr extensions. Thanks for the reply.
