help about I-140 approval notice

I have my I-140 approved, but the company lawyer said since it belongs to
the company, he can't give it to me and of course, the company refused to
provide me both the I-140 receipt notice and approval notice. Is there a way
to get a copy of that from USCIS? Thanks.

A familiar situation.

Yes, the I-140 belongs to the company and not the applicant. When you are applying for the I-485 you will need a copy of this.

One way to get it would be to ask the USCIS. Google around for the G-639 form and fill it out and send it to them.

It will take 8 weeks or more and they'll charge you about $25 but you should be able to get it.

The usual disclaimer: I've heard about this and think that it might work but I'm not 100% sure.

If this doesn't work and you get to know of another method, please post it in this thread.

you usually need a copy of the I-140 approval notice when you go for H1 stamping.....this is how i got the I-140 copy from my company......I was going out of country......had to go for stamping needed all possible immigration documents......they gave it to me...

Thanks. I googled G-639 form and found I still need to fill in a receipt number which I don't have. is that still ok?

What did you do?

Thank you so much for the info.

Hi whtangjun,
I'm in the same boat. I'm also trying to get my I-140 directly from USCIS..
Did you had any luck in that process?
I got the G-639 form from Google.
What option should I choose when filling this form where it says 1. Type of Request.
Is it 1. Freedom of Informaion Act
2. Privacy Act
3. Amendment

And also do you if USCIS informs employer about the request? Is there any chance company would know about it?
Thanks
