CSS/Lulac I-687 - Document OTHER THAN CARD manufactured

Hi Guys,

I applied under the CSS/Lulac court settlement back in July 2005.
USCIS interviewed me in Oct. 2006, officer told me to wait 30 days for an answer.

Last Friday 1/19/07 I was checking my status online and I got the message included below.

I called the USCIS customer center, the rep. basically read out loud the same message. I then asked him what he meant, he said: "Your case was approved this morning. Wait for a welcome letter"

Now, do you guys thinks he was assuming this or do cust. service has the ability to see if a case has been approved or not?

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Trellis.

Application Type: I687 , APPLICATION FOR STATUS AS A TEMPORARY RESIDENT

Current Status: Document OTHER THAN CARD manufactured and mailed.

On January 19, 2007, we mailed the document we manufactured based on our earlier
approval of this case, and mailed it to the address on we have on file. You
should receive the new document within 30 days. If you do not, or if you move
before you get it, call customer service.

OK, I called the USCIS Customer Center.

I gave them by mistake a wrong receipt #, the customer rep. couldn't locate my application so he transferred me to an Immigration Officer!

The officer located my file. He said that my file was transferred back to the National Benefits Center from the Los Angeles office last week.
He said that once the local office is done adjucating the application, then gets transferred back to the NBC. for final processing. He was unable to tell me for sure what the document they sent me says.
He did not believed the letters is an RFE or denial, since these letters are sent by the local office while they still processing an application.

I'll let you guys know when I get the letter.

Trellis.
P.S.
Telling them an invalid receipt # turned out to be great since I was able to speak with a real immigration officer, not just a customer rep. reading a script.

hi,
i also got the same message from uscis. have you figured out what it means? in my case, I had my interview on jan. 19th and was told that i had been approved and given a letter stating that the greencard would be mailed in 2 weeks to 2 months. Till last week, nothing had come in the mail. When I checked my status online, it said that a document had been "undeliverable" and had been mailed back to uscis by the post office. (I have not moved so I don't know how this happened.) I called them and ask them to remail it and early this week, I had the message stating "document other than card" mailed. this is so frustrating! i have no idea what document they are talking about since I already got an approval letter on my interview day. i need to travel out of the country soon and i don't know what to do...

Hi rumaraj,

What kind of case do you have I-485 or I-687?

Mine was a late amnesty (CSS/Lulac Settlement) case.
The document that I received was an approval letter with my picture on it that says that I need to use with my new employment authorization (this EAD is valid for 4 years), this letter is proof that I've been granted temporary residency.

Let me know.

Trellis.
