“Where have you lived during the last five years?....”

Are they asking about US living addresses only??

I just spent 5 and half months abroad visiting, in my country of origin. Should I put that address down to?
Or they just want to know where in US I was living?

Thanks for any help.

As a PR you are required to maintain permanent residence in the USA. If you **LIVE** anywhere else outside the US, you risk abandoning your PR status. If you were in another country for 5-1/2 months you were only **VISITING**, while you maintained a permanent address state-side!

So, you would provide only the US addresses for the last 5 years.

The instructions on the form mention to list every address during last 5 years including in other countries . Why have they mentioned 'other countries'? Am i supposed to mention only US adddresses if none of trips outside US are much less than 6 months each ...

Thanks

Don't put the outside addressess

They are not required if you maintained your residence in United States. Try to understand.

This is the way I understood the question either. I didn't put in my application the visiting period spent abroad.

Well what should I do? I am currently living in my dorms and I been living there for 3 years? so what should I put under this question? I still go back home whenever I get time.

Here is another little thing for you to worry about that I recently read. You must also inform USCIS, within 10 days, every time you change address. The penalties for failing to do it are (taken from USCIS website):

Penalties for Failure to Comply
A willful failure to give written notice to the USCIS of a change of address within 10 days of moving to the new address is a misdemeanor crime. If convicted, you (or parent or legal guardian of an alien under age 14 who is required to give notice) can be fined up to $200 or imprisoned up to 30 days, or both. The alien may also be subject to removal from the United States. (INA § 266(b)). Compliance with the requirement to notify the USCIS of any address changes is also a condition of your stay in the United States. Failure to comply could also jeopardize your ability to obtain a future visa or other immigration benefit.

In theory then, when you give all you various address at which you lived (on you N-400), they could say that you never informed them of these changes (assuming you didn't), and boot you out of the country. I wonder, has anybody ever been booted out of the country for this?

AR-11 is only for reporting changes within the US. Its purpose is for tracking the movements of noncitizens within the US. Note that it doesn't even have a place to write the country of the address.

Even so, what do they do if you don't inform them of your change of address in the US and then one day apply for citizenship and then declare the various places at which you lived while in the US. Would they really boot you out or lock you up?
