Check out your latest H-1 B and your wife's H-4 approval notices. You had to send these for revalidation too. These might have the dates of validity in the top portion. Based upon that the DOS has stamped both of your passports until Feb 2005. If so, then you are in valid status and do not have...
1. Does she qualify for drop box ? (Her old F2 visa stamp expired 1 year back). Note that since she was outside the USA during my change of status to H1, I could not file a COS to H4 for her.
****She qualifies for the drop-box.
Check this out ...
Take all possible documents...see the DOS site for all possible document lists....multipleentry.com actually has an exhaustive list...I guess H-4 to H-1B wouldn't be so different than a new H-1B; Worst case scenario could always be they are not satisifed with the documentation or not in a...
Technically speaking you may breeze through this, without even needing a US degree; many people have done that. But any consulate can give you tough time saying that they are in no position to evaluate you credentials from India and you should visit India to get your visa....and now under the...
It can be done, just remember to have her H-4 extended/transferred before her I-94 date expires...
One common problem of having different dates on each spouse's I-94 (from two different employer's) is that they expire on different dates, and as a result the spouse's status fali to get extended...
a) 1 year
b) Not sure, but L-1?? B-1 would be difficult as you have immigration intent...as the other non-immigration visa categories, which require proof of non-immigration intent..
sorry for replying late...
SL SD means St. Louis sent date
SL RD similarly means St. Louis received date.
The number I called was 202-663-1225 After that option 1, 0 to talk to an officer... it was about a 40 minute hold time...ultimately the lady said wait for another week...before calling...
Do not worry, even they have stamped the same stamp of cancellation without any prejudice over my expired earlier H-1B visa stamp. I did not withdraw my application and just recvd the passports back today with the new stamp. I think this is typical.

Re: St. Louis RD 2/10/03
Hello Sankaran, Sri99999, Thomman, Chandru2003,
Based on your postings..I could guess my case of St. Louis RD 2/10/03 falls in the right time domain as yours. Some of you had already called their DC office to find out that your passports are stamped. Have all/none/any...
I think you should add this 221g document when you apply at Chennai, as anyway they have all the info in their system and moreover they have marked on the old visa. If this was indeed due to the requirement of the new form DS-156 then you should not have a problem in getting your visa stamped...
Hello UVmenon,
I think that is the standard wordings of temporary rejection. You might have been provided the list of documents to resubmit. They usually do not return the DS-156/7 and the money orders. They should have told you the address of Washington DC where you should resend the total...
Sahin,
If you have converted from F-1 to H1-B and is planning to get it revalidated from within USA and do not already have a H-1 stamp in your passport, you will not succeed. As revalidation can only be done if you already have a visa stamp of the same category. I already have heard of denial...
Here is the link to obtain an ITIN and suitable reading from the IRS website.
http://www.irs.gov/individuals/display/0,,i1%3D1%26genericId%3D13288,00.html
The suggestion to obtain an ITIN for a spouse who is not in USA right now seems to be a fraud and further suggestions to not to talk to...
You may not be able to claim your wife as your dependent for tax purposes if she is outside the USA. Also you would not be able to get an ITIN for any person who is outside the country. You can call up IRS and talk to any "International Tax Expert" who can clarify. It is better to depend upon...
