I am trying to apply EB2 and my attorney asked me to get a letter from my univeristy saying I finished my course in May of such year and got my certificate in August of the same year. The univeristy registration office refused to issue such letter said my transcript and certificate shall be adaquate. My attorney concerns I started work in July which was before my MS certificate was issued and might brought inquiry from INS. My relationship with my advisor is so-so as the best. Would you advise how important this letter to be? By the way I have left school for good 8 years and not much contact back there. I lived far away from the university.

get a letter from the grad secy of the department in hwich you completed your masters.
if you had to submit a thesis, then get a letter also from the thesis office that you submitted your thesis on such date.
