Working with an online EAD approval?

Does anyone have experience with this?

One of the attorneys I spoke to says that you need the actual EAD card. The other says....

page 14 Q6 of the USCIS Handbook for Employers states that the employee has 3 days to get the documents after the start date. Within those 3 days if the employee gets a receipt showing that he/she has applied for the document....then he/she has 90 dyas to get the original. As ong as you have an online approval....you can start

I read one of the discussions on visaforums.com that talks about an experience at a Chicago InfoPass where the officer said that once online approval was received the employee could start work and show the actual EAD card within 90 days.

Confused as to whats true and whats not

I believe the latter is true. I.e. that once you recieve the approval email, you can work, but must show your EAD within 90 days of signing the I-9.

You are not allowed to work on the basis of just applying for an EAD.

Phew! Just got my EAD & AP in the mail. So I guess my employer doesn't have a choice but to let me start.

Thanks for your input dr_lha
