Working unpaid while H1-B under process

Can someone answer this for my friend please -
For a reason my friend changed status from F1 to H4. She worked as an unpaid intern thru out school 2nd year and she graduated last week. Can she still be able to work as an unpaid intern while that company process her H1-B visa?

Generally, the answer is that this is a very bad idea. USCIS finds it impossible to believe that someone is working for free for a company that has filed an H-1 for them. USCIS believes that the person is deriving some benefit and is therefore "working".

It's all a case-by-case situation and you will not know whether you have stepped over the line until the Service denies an immigration benefit due to unauthorized employment.
