Situation:
Indian citizen
Have an approved I-140 (self-filed) EB2-NIW. This is not linked to any employer. PD March, 2010. I had elected to do a change of status within the US (not consular processing).
I have been working here on an H-1B for more than 6 years.
I have received a job offer in another country (not India) starting in a month. The offer is temporary. Maybe 6 months. Maybe 2 years. Do not know yet (it will depend on how well I like the place). The money is good.
It is likely (but not certain) that I will return (on an employer sponsored H-1B) before my PD becomes current.
What do I need to do before I leave the US to make sure that I do not lose my I-140 PD?
I have been a resident for tax purposes for more than 5 years. I intend to keep my US bank account, credit cards, car, etc. May even wish to use a visitor's visa to travel to the US for short trips.
