Working on EAD While I-485 Pending?

How long can one keep working on EAD and renew AP if the I-485 is pending based on retrogression?

Is there a limit on how many times EAD and AP may be renewed, or other time limit that may render you out of status?

As far as I know, there is no limit. You can renew until have decision on I 485.
The big risk factor is; EAD/AP automatically cancel, if I 485 denied.

no limit, but you have to pay every year for renewal of EAD till the decision on your I-485 is made, which sucks big time. Because you can only get it renewed on a yearly basis... considering the fact the file fee is increasing every year...

Same risk exists for 7th year H1 extension, based on pending 485. If 485 is denied, H1 is too.

But between H1 expiration and renewal of next H1, work is allowed. This is a gray area for EAD and I am not sure if you can work while your EAD is expired and renewal is pending.
