All,
I am H1B but then work for different company without transferring my H1 (long story). I did work for professional position, meaning that I use my SSN, paid taxes, etc. My original employer whom I get the H1 from, never reported me to USCIS. I'm planning to change status to F1. Will I be able to do that? Does USCIS will check whether I am working illegally while I was H1?

TIA.

Please present more details, particularly, regarding the long story. Without knowing accurate details, the suggestion is most likely limited to just a comment taken out of immigration laws, which may or may not apply to your case.

Well, how much detail do you need?
First of all, I don't think I need to explain why did I decided to work for another company without transferring my H1b. It's really a long story to tell. I know what I did is wrong.
Second of all, to add more detail to my story, my H1 started in 2003 and I started to work for another company in 2004. In 2006 I was renewing my H1 to 2nd 3 years without problem. (I don't think I need to explain how it happen, as it's a long story to tell as well, but, to make it short, my employer whom I get the H1 from was helping me to provide all the paper work so that I can renew my H1 and it was a success). My original employer never reported me leaving the company to USCIS. And I have work for different company since 2004, all in professional position. Using my ssn and file taxes every year. Next year will be the end of my H1 and thinking to change status to F1 as I'm thinking to enroll in MSc program.
