Hi Everyone,

I have had my GC interview at the local office 2 months go. The interview went well, they asked for affidavit of birth, which I maid to them within two weeks of my interview. Still waiting to get the approval!

I have been offered a very high level job by the UN to work at my home country as an international staff. The offer is very tempting, and I may accept it. If I do, I will have to leave the US early next month. I hope I will get the approval letter before I leave. But, if I don't, I may have problems coming back, even thoug I have renewed my RTD. I am not sure if the US immigration will make an exception in this case. If you guys have any comments/suggestions, I would appreciate receiving them.

Gino, The question is what is valuable to you? Getting a GC or having the UN job? YOu may find thousands of jobs once you have your GC but you won't get thousands of GC after your UN Job.

You need to worry about getting your GC and then move on with your life otherwise i guarantee you, your life will become hell. I know its great to go for jobs and stuff but reality is, until you get your GC, you are handicapped in what you do...travel out of country, where you go etc.

You need to ask yourself what is more important to you. Getting a GC or having the UN Job. If I was you, I would worry about getting permannent residency in the united states first.

You don't have to worry about this.GC process has nothing to do with your UN job in your country. It would be a problem if the job was in US and GC was a requirement. You don't need GC to go working in your home land.As a UN chief in your home country, you will not have any problem to get a visa for any country.A choice is up to you.Question yourself about the best thing to pick up between GC and UN job.Nobody would be better to advice you on this. It's all about your life. All we need in lifetime is big money. If you can't make a big money in US and think you will be by going back home and working for UN,TAKE A SHOT.Millions of US citizens and PRs here in US live in shame situations. No good jobs,no money.....and theirs lives are crap!Being US citizen or US PR don't mean getting rich. You can get a better life somewhere else around the world and as I said once you get big money, you got a power and you can travel anywhere you want to.Good job or big money is not about US citizenship or Permanent Residency. It's about your luck and your connection. Now if you think that succes in your life depends on your Permanent Residency/US citizenship than forget about UN job and keep dealing with uscis officials.
Good luck

Personally I think UN is politically corrupted organization. they might give u a contract for 6 month or 12 months.it might be the best job in your country for now.also there is a risk They might not renew your contract or evacuate. I know a lot about UN.Trust me . Get your Greencard and and do whatever u want. i know they ll pay u good money. they give u UN passport so u can vizit any country. however at least get your GC and and do it.if they accepted you now .they will give u job anytime .in case if u lose your UN job u can easily come back to US and get another job . I have friends who has been working for UN for 10 years .UN pays employees for doing nothing all day in office.they are coming here to get GC. they are not happy with UN. However they work in switherland headquater.there should be reason  :)

My recoomendation is to get an appointment with your local USCIS office, and ask for their opinion, remember to copy down his/her name and position during the meeting.
