Working for foreign employer before GC interview

My husband has his green card interview in just over two weeks...in the meantime, a business from his native country (UK) has offered him a short-term contract. he doesn't have an EAD, I guess because his GC interview came up so quickly. In any event, we're wondering if he can take this job before his interview, seeing as it's with a British employer...we're so close and we don't want to take any risks, but of course we could use the money.

your thoughts would be most appreciated.

If he doesn't have EAD how can he work legally? Is this company in the US? One of the things USCIS will ask is he currently employed? Of course if he doesn't have EAD, the answer should be no. I do know that working without authorization is usually forgiven in these instances if person pays taxes. It doesn't seem like it will even be a problem but as you say, don't take any risk. Can't company hold out for 2 weeks to let him complete process?
