Work Status for 485 Primary Applicant

I'd like to know whether a 485 Primary Applicant (PA) can work in the following status after taking advantage of AC21 (i.e., changing employers):

W-2 Hourly
1099

The common notion is that the 485 PA can work as a W-2 Full-time employee only.

However, does anyone have any links to any web sites or hard evidence that W-2 Hourly or 1099 are not allowed?
