Work Permit application

Hi

I Apply for renewal of my work permit (I765 was received on May 9) like I do every year, and after 3 month I didn’t receive any thing, so I called the BICS and they told me they will check in to it. A week later I receive a letter from the Nebraska Service center saying:

“Your case is in a security check. All cases received since 9/11/01 have to go through a security check. This security check can take an unspecified amount of time. Once the security check has been completed, your case will be processed.”

So this is the questions:
· Should I be concern ?
· Did some one get the same answer
· What the average time frame for a work permit renewal

Thanks

If you are an asylee, you do not need working permit. You can even apply for unrestricted SSN. Go back through this forum to find old messages with more specific information about this. You are just waisting your money and your time with BCIS (upsss read USCIS).

Hello~
I e-filed my work permit. It was very smooth processing. I am going to local BICS office for picture and electronic picture. I have never faced any problem. I am sure e-filing will expedite the processing.

If you have a full asylum approval, you can forget about the EAD. You do not need it at all.

In regard to your concerns, there is no need to worry unless of course you are a terrorist or something.

Gilbert:
Still there are some old fashioned people who want EAD. They dont want even to look at your Social Security card which doens't have any condition for employment. So I had not option except to apply for new one.

actually you have options and do not waste your moeny

Azadindian,

I know what you mean. However I would not be so submissive and would safeguard my rights zeaously. I would contact the Office of the Special Counsel of the Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice. You can talk to a lawyer for free about this issue and she/he will then contact the employer for you to explain the law. Trust me, they are not the BCIS. They are very helpful people. I tried this myself and the result is amazing.
