Work authorization for DV2012

So My question is,

I am a DV 2012 Winner from Oceania with a mid range case number OC000009xx.... So I expect to interview around April/May if the numbers follow similar to last year... anyways..

My Questions is and I'm hoping that a previous winner can help, I currently have a Job on offer that I want to take up, however they will not process my application until I have Work Authorization... I ave previously worked on an exchange visa in USA, so have a Social security already... Does this mean after attending the interview my social security will be active again? Or to have authorization to work, do I need to wait for the green card to arrive which could take weeks to months after arrival If I read correctly? Or does the visa issued at the Consulate be enough for a company to see and check that I have the right to work?

I am jsut confused on this and any help would be appreciated, as It is a great job! I just want to be able to try and tell them more about my case and when I will recieve such authorization/confirmation.

Your social security number is yours for life. It does not authorize you to work. To be able to work off your DV winning you have to have had your interview and gotten the visa in your passport and entered the US . On entry they may place a stamp in your passport that provided tempory authorization. Otherwise you need to wait until your green card arrives. Until then you can't accept employment unless you have another class of visa that authorizes work.
