Hi
Any info on a lawyer in Chicago who can do WOM. I do not think I can do it on my own although I know the forum is very informative.
Thanks

OK, give me the $7k ~ $10K that you're willing to spend and I'll do it for you, even though I'm not a lawyer.
Save yourself some money and do it yourself.

So far USCIS has settled out of court, which means that you don't need a lawyer to represent you. Just file the suit and USCIS will approve your case.

Open a PACER account and search similar cases in your District. You'll find some cases represented by lawyers in your area.

A month back, I would suggest you go pro se without any hesitation. But there is a new USCIS interim rule coming out in December, saying that they won't expedite name checks anymore for pending lawsuits. This has been confirmed by some people's recent experience, but nobody knows at this time how it will really affect future WOM lawsuits. So, if you can afford a lawyer to help you better deal with the consequences, then why not?

do u have a copy of that memo issued by USCIS lately?

before u filed A WOM, who did u contact? senators, fbi ...? can u elaborate?

I don't have the exact text, because the interim rule hasn't been revealed to the general public. But there are several immigration websites that have discussed it, and the links can be found in the last 3 pages or so of the giant lawsuit thread in the citizenship forum. And some people who recently filed WOM or 1447(b) cases were told by their AUSA's that they couldn't request an name check expedition due to this new rule...

Before I filed my WOM, I contacted only my congressman and requested an FOIPA from FBI. But my wife's name check had been stuck for more than 2 years, so I thought we had a strong case anyway.

Why was your spouse's I485 denied? and then approved a day later? Please elaborate
Well, I've got tired explaining it everytime. So, the short story is, my wife was retaliated by USCIS due to the lawsuit. They called her in for a 2nd interview, showed her some "new evidence" that they digged up against her, and then denied her case. We appealed and produced proof to show that they were wrong. The case was reopened by the district director and subsequently approved.
