Hi all,

I am in india now and wil be returning back on march 14th.
But my lawyer informed me that my wife got FP notice, and
scheduled time is MArch4th, 2005.

I Cannot come to USA now because Last week Only I came to
India for my brother's marriage.

So Can we reschedule the appointment? PLEASE LET me know the procedure.

You can go to Finger Printing, without rescheduling at a later date, generally if you miss the date, USCIS suggests to attend the finger printing on wednesday's.

Thanks for yur reply.

Actually, I have to go for Finger printing on March4th, I will be returning on March 14th. So Can I wait for 10 days. Meanwhile, Will the Finger Prints Office notify VSC about this?

In this portal, I read in FP notice instructions that if we miss appointment, we have to reschedule the appointment.

Please advise me.

Thanks

Same boat

I am in the same boat as you are. But its for my wife. She has received Fingerprint notification asking her to show up on 2/25. But my wife would return from India only on 4/10.

Here are my questions
1. Can we call the 800 number and reschedule the appointment . If the answer is yes do we also have to send the notice by marking next wednesday or next saturday along with a covering letter to INS.

2. Can I reschedule an appointment for my wife or should my wife call from India and do it by herself.

3. Can I just ignore the notice. I read in the forum that there is a 60 day grace period. Is it true. If its true my wife would still have time as she can appear for FP before  4/25.

Please share if you have similar experience

I am in the exact same boat too...

mschalasani,

I am in exactly the same boat. My wife is in India, both of us have received FP notice from VSC to appear at Detroit ASC on 2/25. My wife will return from India on 4/14.

I have same questions as you, so waiting for someone to answer...

The FP notice says, if you cannot make it on 2/25 please reschedule by sending the original notice back to VSC. On the original notice there are only two options for new possible dates: "next possible wednesday" and "next possible saturday"

I received the FP notices today. One option is for my wife to pack her bags, board the next available flight and be here for fingerprinting on 2/25.

My dilemma is, if I reschedule and if the notice for the new appt arrives 5 days before the new appointment, like it did now, my wife will have to go through the same scramble again. On top of that by rescheduling the FP appointment, we are running the risk of USCIS messing-up with something and causing a big delay in the whole process....

we can add a covering letter !

I would say instead of giving INS a chance to reschedule tentatively let us add a covering letter explaining our situation and ask for a specific or a range of dates. Anyway I will consult my company attorney on Monday and update this thread.

Don't make things complicate

Don't make things complicate, I was in same position, I didn't called USCIS or my lawyer. I went to the ASC after 45 days of my actual date. It was easy and they didn't asked anything. I showed my notice and photo ID that's it.

I am also going through same problem – LUD got changed on 485

Finger print was scheduled for both me and my wife on Feb 8th 2004 from TSC.
My wife is in India and she is going to return back on Mach 6th 2005.

I have completed finger print Feb 8th with out any problem.

My attorney told me that reschedule can delay the process. There is 60 days grace
Period after the appointment date. So I haven’t rescheduled her FP.

I also verified with INS Santa Ana, CA office, where our FP was scheduled. That told me that they can take FP with in less then
90 days. Any day, it is not necessary on Wednesday or Saturday

After that when I check profile on USCIS web site
My wife’s EAD LUD got changed with out any status changed 02/08/2005, Which is the FP scheduled date.

On 02/15/2005 her I-485 status got changed with following message.

“On February 15, 2005, the document we made based on the approval or
registration of this case was mailed directly to the person to whom
issued”.

May be they are trying to send another FP notice or they approved 485 with out FP.
I saw this forum, it is some times possible that they are approving with out FP.

I am primary applicant and completed FP. There is no LUD or Status change on my 140 or 485.

I just hold my breath unit my returns form India.

I am going to call USCIS tomorrow any I will update the forum.

reschedule suggested by my attorney

My lawyer asked me to call and reschedule the appointment. I am still confused whether to reschedule or ignore wait and go on a later date. Anyway I will follow my attorneys advice and reschedule my appointment.
