Recently I got my H1 approval without updating the status or LUD and I didn't receive any email. I filed my 140 and 485 on Oct 19th, 2003. Can I expect something like my H1? Thanks.

Yes It could happen
It is very rare but it could happen. See the following thread . I was surprised when I first saw the post that Ulhas did not get e-mail but only got by mail.
In any case it makes things more stressful - expecting approval in mail everyday

One of my friends LUD never changed, directly said approved from received on so & so date.... He got the e-mail
