Will they stamp the passport expiring in one month?

My kid has the passport expiring in one month. Will they stamp the passport? Or will they request to obtain a new passport?

I searched the Internet and forums.
My conclusions are:
If a passport has been expired they will stamp a new I-94.
They do stamp passports expiring earlier than I-551 stamp's expiration date. But I found only one mention that such a passport must be valid at least 6 months after the date of stamping. Looks like nobody knows the exact boundary when they start refusing to stamp a passport.
