Will spouse's 485 applcation be processed at the same time?

If the spouse's adjustment of status application is filed separately (after getting another's application receipt). Would they still be processed at the same time or considered totally separate cases? Any experience or insight on this? Thanks!

I think they are processed separately, the only thing is that they still depend on the primary applicant's case status.

For sure derivative application will not be processed before the primary application.
