Will spouse using AP affect the main H1?

The spouse of a friend of mine intends to use the AP, in that case would his H1 become invalid? He is the main applicant. I don't think it would but wanted to verify. Thanks.

You are right, It will not affect H1 of your friend.

Even if the H1 holder himself uses AP, his H1 won't be affected - he still remains in H1 status.
So obviously a spouse using AP won't even matter
