Will shoplifting affect my I-485?

I am going to file my I-485 within next 1 or 2 weeks. I have a question if I had a shoplifting about 10 years ago, will it be affect my filing for I-485?
(without jail time and paid for the fine at that time).
 
ran a 10 fingerprint and request a criminal record history check. Just got the result from State of California Department of Justice and result is "No Record Response". so my question now is : Do I answer Yes or No when I fill out my I-485 application regarding to the question "Have you ever.......?".
 
I've never been in a situation like that, but if I were to speculate, I'd say tell the truth. You can always include a detailed explanation with the form (i.e. that it was a misdemeanor, how long ago it happened, how old you were at the time, etc.).

I guess no one in this forum will be able to give you a definite answer to your question unless they've been in your particular situation. If still in doubt - seek professional advice.

Hi weichunc,
After you've had this shoplifting case, did you ever try to go out of the country (i.e canada, mexico) for an H-1 stamping? Did they give you the H-1 stamping successfully?

There should be no problem for you to get a stamp. Actually, I went out of country and back in a couple times during the past. Also I extend my F-1 and got the stamp without any problem. So I think there is no problem for you to get a H-1 stamp.
 
What year did you go for H-1 stamp? Which US consulate was it in? Canada?
On Form DS156, did you reply 'Yes' to the question 'Have you ever....'?
Please tell me what happen? Explain what officer did?
I want to go for stamping but want to say NO to the "Have you ever..." question. Let me know what you think...enlighten me
