Will my AP renewal be abandoned?

I will have two business trips, one in April and return in May, the other in August and return in September.

My current AP will expire in August, so I need a new AP for my return in September. Recently, the processing time of I-131 at NSC is about 6 months, if I apply for AP renewal after I return in May, I will not be able to receive the approval before August. I want ot renew my AP now. I have two questions:

1. If I travel in April before new AP is issued (my current AP is good till August), will my application be abandoned?

2. When I return in May, I will have a new I-94 number. Will this influence my pending AP renewal?

My basic question is whether my AP application will be abandoned if I travel overseas before AP is approved. Anybody knows the answer?

Hello there, I don't have the answer and I wish you let me know what it is gonna happen once you know it. I will be facing the same situation as yours. I have just received my 1st AP but I have to do few business trips during the year. Thanks a lot.

You can travel on your current AP and return before the expiry date on your current AP. It does not affect your application for a new AP.
2. When I return in May, I will have a new I-94 number. Will this influence my pending AP renewal?
No. This will not influence your pending AP renewal.

One of my friend is waiting for his AP. He has visa stamp on his passport. When he went to local INS to check regarding his AP status, they told if he leaves to India without getting AP approved, his Green card will be cancelled.
