Will it seem suspicious if my wife suddenly gets paid about 20,000 dollars from her sister?

My wife's sister owes her 20,000 dollars because her mother sold her a piece of land in Brazil over a verbal contract. If she sent my wife that money in increments of 2000 dollars for the next month, would that look suspicious?

Should we wait to get that money because immigration my suspect that something is up because that happens to be just what we need to get over 3x poverty level?
