Dear experienced friends..

I applied for asylum on Sept 06, interviewed on Nov 06. Received a denial letter on Aug 07. And then i appealed and finally on march 08 i was in a court room with the Judge, interpreter, my lawyer and DHS lawyer i guess. We all spent 4.5hours in that room. Decision was the judged granted my asylum BUT DHS would like to appeal and unfortunately DHS did appeal. And DHS lawyer asked for all my original documents (our original birth certificates, marriage certificate, baptism certificates & etc).
Time flew by till no there is no news about it, i really scared if they lose my original documents. Maybe he wanted to check them all out to see if they are legit. The reason he appealed cos he didnt believe i am a catholic.

The questions i would like to ask you all:
Will i be able to request of getting them back eventhough the appeal is still pending?
Whos keeping the documents? the DHS lawyer or the appeal officers?
Lets say my case is still pending for who knows how many more months/ years, they will not lose them right?

Thank you so much for your attention to this matter. I appreciate it :)

u should have a lawyer since your case went to a JUdge, so consult with your attorney regarding it.
