Will Contacting Ombudsman help in background check?

haoyun04,
Not sure if it will really help. Send Ombudsman a letter and you will receive a response from the his office stating that a SR inquiry has been initiated with the USCIS and that you should receive a response (from USCIS) in 45 days.

I had sent a letter to Ombudsman sometime mid June and received a response in 10 days. Yet to see any positive outcomes as a result. Let's see what happens when I cross the 45 day mark.

I doubt if it helps because ombudsman is about CIS matters, and NC is an FBI matter. His office does initiate an official inquiry to CIS for you (it took us about 2 months from the beginning to the end before we heard from CIS), but I'm not sure if his office can do anything effective regarding FBI. But perhaps, he *might* forward your inquiry to them for you anyway, so you can try, it certainly wouldn't hurt.

Contacting Ombudsman help in background check?

In my case Ombudsman told me that they cannot help me as my name check is pending. They asked me to wait. Then I contacted First lady and it worked, I received a letter from FBI after 3 mths that my name check is completed. They mentioned that the letter to them was fwd by First lady's office. Its worth a try. I would highly recommend you to do that.

Thanks

How to write this letter to FL

Might be a dummy question, but

1. Where can I find the address of First laday office?

2. Do you have some sample letter to show me how?

First Lady Mrs Laura Bush
The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW
Washington, DC 20500

For template letters, search the forums (use the advanced search feature)... I've seen some people kindly upload the letters they actually wrote to her office so you can modify and personalize them according to your specific situations.

Same with me.

Contacting Ombudsman is just like writing to Congressmen, FL, etc. None of them will help, in theory. But you hope for the best. Not to mention that if FBI or USCIS has to dig out your files in order to respond to the inquiries, it can only be a good thing, at least they have to find your case thus confirming that it wasn't lost or buried under a trash can.

Nobody really knows... neither of them may work, or either may work. It depends on each applicant's situation too. So it's your choice. That said, I would write a letter and sand a snail-mail with a postage. When communicating with public offices, formal letters tend to be considered to be appropriate and taken most seriously. After all, this letter thing to Laura is nothing institutionalized and not official part of her job, so I think we should make such a request most appropriate and respectful way possible.

When writing to the First Lady, is FAX as effective as sending a snail-mail?
