Hi,
We are wondering about the reasons and implications of my wife's applications (both I-485 and I-765) being transferred to Los Angeles (supposedly local!) office.

We got married after I filed my concurrent I485 and I140 and included her in the application while my 485 was getting approved.
My application got approved and I received my green card but my wife got a notice from INS notifying the transfer of her cases to LA office!
The exclamation because we live in San Mateo (have not moved after filing) and ideally the local office should have been San Francisco.

My wife wants to start working and she was waiting for her EAD to come through (which should have been based on priority dates) but now this transfer has raised a big question.

Any advice on appropriate action will be highly appreciated. Should we just pray and wait for the apps to get approved? Should we call or visit LA office to find out whats going on?

Pls help!
Thanks a bunch in advance.

My app:-
140 and 485 filed concurrently in June, 2001 (CSC)
Got married in: May 2004
my 140 approved: Sept 2004
included wife's 485 app: Sept 2004
my 485 approved: Oct 2004
my GC received:: Nov 2004
wife's transfer notices: Dec 2004

Others here have had their cases moved to the other side of the country, so I'm sure your lawyer can file for them to move it to a different local office.

This my be a blessing in disguise though. SFO office is working extremely slow (6 month wait for an interview, some even more). Check on the processing time of the LA office to see if its better. If you do file for a transfer, ask to trasfer it to San Jose, where processing is very quick.

Thank you for responding.

Can somebody pls comment on the wait time for interview at LA office.
