Hi all,
My wife holding Canadian PR and citizenship from common wealth country (Pakistan),would like to visit USA. She landed about a week ago
What would be the best way for her to come to USA without any immigration hassles? Air, rail, bus?

Thanks for your help in advance

Regards

Hi Shezad, take the greyhound...read on

I crossed over from toronto to NYC in the greyhound at the
peace bridge crossing on sept 7th, it was very peaceful, I hold
canadian PR and H1 visa/status in the USA. how many days in canada ?
what do you do in the USA ? were the only Qs asked.

2 days after that my wife and I crossed back and forth between
US and Canada onthe rainbow bridge by foot ( took a taxi from buffalo
and then a bus to toronto after corssing into canada. same onthe
way back...this time I did not have to even show my passport.

Could you let me know if the presence of Canadian PR stamp has any effect during I-485 application approval / passport stamping ?

My lawyer said it should not matter, but I got some others on this
board wanting to void the canadian PR otherwise the INS might
   take exception ?

   thanks a ton in adv,
   tt tt

tt,

presence of PR stamp shouldn\'t have any affect on your approval because u dont have to send copies of ur stamp page to INS.

In my case, INS didn\'t look all the pages when stamping my passport

Can you please tell me if u travelled after Sept 11th
Do u think they are more strict now with recently landed PR of Canada?

Did u have to come out of bus when crossing into USA for Immigration purpose or Immigration officer come into the bus?

Thanks again
u can email me at nshehzad1@hotmail.com if u like

Hmm

I dont know what pages my lawyer copied and sent, anyway he said
that it should have no effect.
No I travelled before sept 11. The bus is parked and everyone
has to take their luggage get in line and pass thru the INS office
both immigration and customs , they you come out of the office
and board the bus.
I think things are a little bit strict now, but no personal
experiance.

thanks

do u think it\'s safe for my wife to travel by train if she holds the landing papers of Canada, and just landed in Canada about a week ago.

If they refuse entry into USA for landing immigrant of Canada, do they stamp the passport, what will they do with her at that point?

send her back to Canada or hold at the immigration office until someone comes to pick her up

thanks

They will not hold her...

I think they do stamp the passport but they will not detain her,
only ask her to go back. Is it possible for her to show some \'landed status\' in canada, like having a rental apartment, job offer,
that might persuade the INS to let her in as a tourist for upto
6 months.

i really dont know how the train works, but the greyhound bus
at peace bridge and the rainbow bridge seems to indicate a
not too many questions asked immigration process.
