I got my approval on April 10th ( after RFE on Feb 27th ) and my details are in PCee\'s June list. For some strange reason my wife didn\'t get her approval along with me. When we contacted IIOs they just said it is still under process and gave us was plain regular useless stuff as reasons.

I wrote to my local Congresswomen on May 1st 2002. Congresswomen\'s office got back to us by email on May 7th that INS will take appropriate decision and that we don\'t need to panic. On May 8th 2002, her AVM changed to \'This case is Approved on May 8th...\'.

That\'s the happy ending on our Green Card Journey. It took a total of 1 year and 10 months ( from Labor filing to GC ). Thanks to PCee, greaty-k, rsrgc, DeeRod and all the other wonderful people I interacted in this board. I will really miss this board in future.

I live in the Us congressional district 10 in California. You can find your congressmen by selecting the state and zip code in the following site :
http://www.house.gov/writerep/

This site also gives link to the congressmen\'s website where you can directly email the same letter. I did email the letter, and also faxed the same to congresswomen\'s california and Washington fax numbers.

Hon. Congresswoman. Ellen Tauscher,
10th Congressional District of California,
1801 North California Blvd, Suite 103,
Walnut Creek. CA - 94596.
Phone : 925 932 8899
Fax : 925 932 8159.

Sub : Reg. Immigration : I-485 case pending at Californica Service Center.

Respected Ellen Tauscher,

My husband and I filed our I-485 applications together in June 2001 and our details are as below :

Husband\'s Name : #########
Case Number : WAC-01-260-XXXXX
Alien Reg.# : A## ### ###

My Name : #########
Case Number : WAC-01-260-XXXXX
Alien Reg.# : A## ### ###

Both of our Notice Dates are the same and it is : 08/17/2001. We both did our Finger Prints together on 10/30/2001. We received our Employment Authorization Documents and Advanced Parole together. My husband got approved recently, but I am still waiting. I am a dependant of my husband and usually family cases are handled together.

The IIOs in California Service Center were not helpful in getting info on what is happening in my case. I have seen people with much later Notice Dates and who have done their Finger Prints much later have got approved. Hence I request you to please help me in finding what is happening with my case and subsequently approval of the same at the earliest.

Thanks for your help in advance and I really appreciate the same.

My belief is in Congressional districts where the immigrant community is strong and is making a significant contribution, the congressmen do take letters from immigrants and immigration related issues very seriously and act. For eg., our congresswomen has a separate immigration related cell in Walnut Creek, CA. So all immigration related queries goes to that cell and acted upon promptly. Hope this helps.

Good luck.

Thanks
