Dear all,
My wife attended her first H4 visa interview on Jul 13 2006 at Chennai consulate. She was asked few basic questions and finally was asked to show our original marriage certificate, she had a copy of the marriage certificate which was certified as a true copy of the original. so she was given blue color 221g form with a stamp saying "Application Received" & additional notes by the VO (see attached 221g) and VO told her to bring our original marriage certificate and return to the consulate on any Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. The VO kept my wife's DS 156 and DS 157 forms with herself and returned all my other original documents (my pay stubs, bank statements, I797A).
1) Does my wife need to once again take the DS 156 and DS 157 forms, as per instructions in 221g form pg1 last paragraph (see attached 221g), if so could she just take a copy of the original forms or does she have to fill in new forms once again?
2) If she does have to fill new forms once again how does she go about doing this (online or manually)? In the new DS 156 does she have to answer item 31 (Have You Ever Been Refused a U.S. Visa?) as 'Yes'?
3) As per the 221g form, the VO has circled 1st 3 check boxes, which is self contradictory (1st check box says the office will contact my wife, where as 3rd box says my wife needs to take marriage certificate and visit the consulate once again) Do you think the VO circled 1st check box by habit/ mistake, even though she asked my wife to revisit the consulate with the required additional document?
4) Will she be interviewed all over again during her 2nd visit?
5) What are her chances of getting the H4 Visa stamped successfully?
She plans to return to the consulate on Tuesday July 18 2006 with our original marriage certificate (along with all documents she took during her 1st interview). Please respond at the earliest with any relevant experience/ guidance.
Thank you,
cjm
