Wife gets NOA(Receipt) but not me!

Hello,

My wife received the receipt notice today(7/31) but not me. The applications were sent together and the checks were cashed on the same day.

Since all the NOA's are generated by the system automatically I expected mine to come along with that of my wife's. Online status does appear for her and not for me. What is happening here?

Anyone with similar experience.

Do not worry. My husband and I we sent the N-400 applications in the same envelope and his receipt # was 3 digits higher than mine. We did get them in the same day but in different envelopes. In your case, the INS might have mailed yours and your wife's in different days.

You could call NCS and ask about your receipt #. I did that and I was given the # over the phone and I was told exactly when the receipts were printed.

You cannot check your status online whithout the receipt #. The number on the back of the checks is NOT the receipt #. Now, that you have your wife's NOA you can verify what I just said.

Probably the applications were recorded by different people, so...is coming! Don't worry. I received my FP appointment in the same day with NOA. Did your wife get that? Probably it depends on the Service Center.

No. We are not that lucky to get an FP letter along with NOA here in VSC! It may take some time. We have to ride out this wait time.

Anyway, thanks for the info. My NOA must be on the way. I knew it would come but it is very comforting to know that I am not alone with this experience.

Did you get the FP notice? How about your wife did she get Interview letter?
 
No doc75, I am still waiting. It is nearly 2 months since I mailed our applications and no receipt yet, can you belive that?. Wife is still waiting for the IL but it is too early for her(Little over a month since FP).
 
Wrong Alien# PROBABLY!

Did you call the VSC/NCS?

Which District office have you applied from?

I can bet that they entered the wrong alien# for your N400 application. Call them and they should (!) take care of it.

This happened to me too

There is definitely some kind of human error here...either while processing or handling the mail..
call them asap...

Hi Adina,

Which NCS number did you call to get your receipt number? I tried to call a certain number but it was completely automated etc., any help would be much appreciated!

My application was received on September 1st and they cashed the checks on September 7th and I am still waiting for a receipt letter in the mail.

I called NSC twice and they have the correct alien number and I even have my case number. I think they have handled my application correctly and so far I don't see any reason to belive that a human error has occured.

The NSC customer service representative says I need to wait for atleast 60 days before they can put in another request for generating receipt notice. They refuse to give specific reason why there is a delay and all they say is cryptic reply "It happens sometime". Knowing how these immigration stuff works I have little choice but wait.

The NSC number to call is : 1-800-375-5283. The average wait is about 45 - 60 minutes even though the prompt says 25-30 minutes. Good luck.
