My wife and I met with an Agent today at the USCIS. We had a lot of questions regarding I-130, I-485, reentry permit vs advanced parole, etc. as my wife needs to go back to her home country for a a month or so in August. She will be leaving safely before her 6 months visit is up, btw.
The Agent suggested that my wife and I consider submitting the I-130 now, leave for Bulgaria in August without submitting an I-485 or I-131, and get the "green card" in Bulgaria at the Consulate. Then, she said my wife would receive an immigrant visa and be able to return to the US.
She called this Consular Processing and said that once she was back in the US, she would then be eligible to work, get a driver's license, SS#, etc.
She seemed to imply that it was an easier process than the I-485, I-131, etc. We are excited, but skeptical, since this is new and sounds too easy.
BTW, I'm a USC. She entered legally as a visitor and we got married last month. She has not overstayed.
Assuming this process is a good one, what will she have to have with her in Bulgaria, in order to get her visa to come back? My affidavit of support (I864)? What else?
She has already had the medical and we have the sealed report from the doctor.
