My I-485 details:

RD: Apr 2002
FP1: May 2002
FP2: ~Dec 2003
RFE: Mar 2004

My I-485 is employment based. A few months ago, my wife got her US citizenship. I'd appreciate if someone can help me with the followings:

1. Can I apply for greencard through my wife while my original application is being processed? If yes, what's the procedure and is it even worth at this stage?

2. Due to IT industry slowdown, the company I work for is not doing well and there might be gaps in the next few paychecks. Should I just send my RFE and hope not to get called in for an interview?

3. Are there any precautionary measures that I can take; for example, apply for I-130 thru my wife in case I can't produce paystubs if I get called in for an interview?

Thanks.

1. Yes you can. See family based green card section.
2. Hard to say, what is RFE about?
3. I am not sure what you are talking about - you may keep that option as backup.
