Why E24 or E25 instead of E22 for dependent ?.

Can anyone shed light on what is E22 , E23 , E24 & E25 or for that matter E*2 , E*.3, E*4 & E*5?.

I was expecting for my wife as dependent E22 but she got E24 on the CP visa certificate & at POE.

I don\'t understand the E24 either, here is how I thought it works (info from INS):

employment 2nd preference, professionals holding advanced degrees:
New arrivals (I assume CP): E21
Adjustments (485-based): E26
2nd preference, spouses of E21, E26:
New arrivals: E22
Adjustments: E27
2nd preference, children of E21, E26:
New arrivals: E23
Adjustments: E28

Not sure how E24 comes in the picture...!

while it seems the categories are analogus, I don\'t think that\'s the case here,
I looked at a table (from INS website), and it mentioned exactly what you have above,
however, no mention for E24 in the E2*.
