Who should call for 140 inquiry

Hi gurus,
I did called for my I-140 inquiry and the lady said she can't provide any info to me nor I can put an inqiury. I have seen some posts saying that beneficiary themselve called??? I am confused about this issue?? My ND for I140 is 08/16/004. Thanks for input.
 
Employer or Attorney

Employer or Attorney can only do a status enquirey for 140.
140 is related to employer.

Don't worry your approval is on way, I have the same RD 8/16/04, I got email yesterday....for your information you can't call for I-140 either lawer or your employer need to call them..

Thanks much for encouraging words and replies, unfortunately I am a state employee.....and in state we don't have private attorneys so going through the HR is another hassel to put an inquiry....I can just sit back and pray.
