My first term of H1 visa is expiring and I have got an extension. I am planning to go to India on vacation. For reentering US, I need to revalidate my visa. I am little confused which US consulate I can apply for visa interview, in India.
First time, I got my visa from Chennai as at that time I was working in Bangalore.
1) Is there any rule which says that the visa interview should be done from the same consulate from where petition has been filed. Is this rule applicable when you are going for visa revalidation also (as in my case).
2) I heard that there is some rule which says that the visa interview should be taken in the consulate nearest to the residence. In my case, since I am currently in US, so can I consider the address mentioned in my passport as my residential address and book interview in the consulate nearest to that.
Please advice, if anyone has faced similar issues.
