Hi, friends, can anyone give me some suggestions? Which category should I choose or qualify?
I am a fifth-year Molecular Biology (MB) Ph.D. student currently, expecting my graduation in 2-3 months. I will work as BioInformatics (BI) postdoc at a science institute after my graduation. This is a newly founded institute with ~300 employees, unfortunately, some friends inside told me that the institute probably does not sponsor greencard, i.e., it does not think postdoc as a permanent employee, which is true, although most universities sponsor their postdoc for greencard application.
During my Ph.D., I published one first-authorship paper and one third-authorship paper in good journals (second class, not like Science or Nature). These papers about MB. Now I will move to BI field in which, of course, I will use my knowledge gained from MB as a PhD student. I have also two university-level awards.
I guess my question is that after I move to BI field which is close to but not very close to MB field, will the papers I published or even the degree I will get in the field of MB help me?
Another question is that after I go to that institute, which does not sponsor, what category should I choose to apply? Or what category do I qualify? EB1? NIW?
