Hi all,

My wife is in India now and she travelled on AP. Her H4 stamp has expired in her passport. While going from USA to India, no one asked for her AP. Where does she have to produce her AP? Will the officials at Calcutta airport know what AP is while she is returning back?

Thanks in advance

When she leave USA, she should gave I-94 to airline staff. That is it.

AP is useful when she come back from India to USA. Show AP, I-485 receipt and passport to INS officer when coming through port of entry after arriving to the airport. INS will take one copy of AP and stamp the other copy and give it back to you. Most of people will be asked to go to a room. You will stay there for about 10 minutes when INS check computer system. That is normal process. Whole thing should not take more than half an hour.

Thanks...

Does anyone have experience leaving India (Calcutta) with AP? Do the airlines people (Singapore Airlines ) know what AP is or will they look for visa stamp in passport?

Thanks

Normally you have to show AP to airlines person at the time of checkin. Keep couple of photocopies. In general airlines people don't know what is AP. When they notice you don't have a valid visa on passport, they may ask if you have a GC. Show your original AP, explain him/her and give him/her a photocopy - in case case they would like to keep one for their own records. Same thing in immigration check too. In transit (at Singapore airport) again they may ask for it, while boarding for US flight.
